EJRAF Empowers 1,100 Nigerian Women with Vocational Skills and over N120million Free Business Grants

Over 1,100 Nigerian women drawn from different parts of the country are now certified entrepreneurs
Over 1,100 Nigerian women drawn from different parts of the country are now certified entrepreneurs following the successful completion of a-2week Skill Acquisition, Entrepreneurship Training and Economic Empowerment Programme by a non-governmental organization, the Elizabeth Jack-Rich Aid Foundation in collaboration with the NNPC/Belemaoil Joint Venture and Belema Aid Foundation. 500 of the beneficiaries were drawn from the FCT and northern Nigeria and while 600 were drawn from Rivers State and other parts of the Niger Delta. The women were trained in Catering, Computer Appreciation, Fish Farming, Poultry, Hair Dressing, Make-Up, Cosmetology, Bead Making, Leather Works, Hand Craft, Event Planning and Decoration in the programme which flag-off in Abuja and Port-Harcourt. The beneficiaries were all empowered with over N120 million as start-up capital to commence businesses of their own at the closing ceremonies of the programme in Abuja on 22nd November and in Port-Harcourt on 23rd November, 2019. The Founder/President of the Elizabeth Jack-Rich Aid Foundation, Dr. Elizabeth Jack-Rich was moved by compassion at the closing ceremony in Port-Harcourt and gave one of the beneficiaries, a Physically Challenged woman on a Wheel Chair, Karibiba Don Pedro additional N2million. Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Elizabeth Jack-Rich asserted that empowerment of women is a veritable tool of development of any society adding that when you empower a woman, you empower a family, you empower a community, you empower a nation and the world at large. She charged the beneficiaries to go into the world and succeed with the gift of empowerment they received from the programme. In his remarks at the closing ceremony in Abuja, the Founder/President of Belemaoil Producing Limited Mr. Tein T.S. Jack-Rich urged the beneficiaries to see themselves as agents of help to others. He said the free business grants given to the beneficiaries should serve as a memorial and an important tool that would add value to their chosen career. The Group General Manager of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services, NAPIMS, Musa Lawal who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Manager Public Affairs, Clementina Arubi stated that empowerment of a woman is key to having a happy family and a healthy nation. Some of the beneficiaries commended the Elizabeth Aid Foundation and the partners for given them a lifetime of opportunity to achieve their dreams and aspirations. Highpoints of the closing ceremony of the 2weeks Skill Acquisition, Entrepreneurship Training and Economic Empowerment Programme was the conferment of a prestigious award on the Founder/President of the Elizabeth Jack-Rich Aid Foundation, Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Jack-Rich as the Youth Woman of the Year 2019 by the National Youth Council of Nigeria for her outstanding role in the empowerment of women and youths. She was inducted as Matriarch of the National Youth Council of Nigeria. Founder/President of the Elizabeth Jack-Rich Aid Foundation, Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Jack-Rich was also conferred with the Icon of Empowerment Award by the Kula Youth Organization.
